Potato starch manufacturing process can be divided into the following process:
Potato cleaning and washing-crushing-separating-desanding and refining-dewatering-drying and packing
1.Cleaning machine: Dry sieve is a widely used potato starch processing machine for cleaning whose main function is to remove the sand, soil, weed and other impurities from cassava. This machine adopts multiple inner spirals design which achieve the transportation function during cleaning process. It can not only play the function of quantitative conveyance, but also control the size of material conveyance.
2. Washing machine: Rotary washing machine is a widely used potato starch processing machine for washing. It adopts countercurrent washing principle which has a better washing effect. On the one hand, fresh potato in the rotary washing machine moves in a circular motion along the drum wall, and on the other hand, moves in a straight line along the axis. In this way, fresh potatoes are well washed. Reasonable feeding ensures low breakage rate of raw material and high starch extraction rate. The breakage rate is lower than 1%.
3.Crushing machine: The role of crushing is to destroy the structure of potato, so that tiny starch granules can be disintegrated and separated from the roots of potato. In potato starch manufacturing process, the widely used potato starch processing machine for crushing is rasper. The machine relies on high-speed operation to disintegrate potato so that the starch granules are continuously separated. And the disintegrated potato is processed into starch slurry by using water as a medium.
4. Separating machine: In potato starch production line, separating is mainly for the separation of fiber and starch slurry. 8. Drying and packing machine: The wet starch dehydrated by vacuum filter is transferred to next potato starch processing machine for drying. The steam pressure is controlled at 0.8 MPa. It is required to after the drying process, the moisture content of the finished starch is about 13.5%. Then the starch is packed for storage. And this process requires a sufficient number of bags, a firm package, and timely storage.
