1. Cleaning and washing stage
In potato starch production plant, potatoes are fed through the feed hopper and transported into cleaning machine for removing the small stones, dirt and other debris of raw materials. After stone removal, potatoes are washed in a rotary washing machine. The potatoes are constantly rolling and rubbing in the water, which can make the soil on the potato peel off to achieve a good washing effect. After washing, potatoes are transported to the temporary storage hopper through the inclined belt conveyor.
2. Crushing stage
The cleaned potato is pulverized by a rasping machine, which blows the structure of the raw material in potato starch production plant, so that the tiny starch granules can be disintegrated and separated from the potato. With water as the medium, after two pulverizations, the potato is slurred. The starch has been substantially freed out and becomes a slurry mixture which is divided by a pump into a vertical sieve.
3. Screening stage
This process is mainly for the separation of starch and fiber. Centrifuge sieve utilizes high speed centrifugal force to remove the fiber and starch. To achieve better separation effect, potato starch production plant normally use multi-stage centrifuge sieve. WIth the help of this potato starch processing machine, the fiber is separated from potato starch.
4. Concentration and refining stage
The starch milk from the first stage centrifugal screen enters the hydrocyclone station, and the process water is pumped from the other end of the cyclone station to wash the starch countercurrent. The hydrocyclone station in potato starch production plant can be divided into three parts: concentrating, washing and refining of the potato starch.
5. Starch dehydration and drying stage
The moisture content of the wet starch after potato dehydration is required to be lower than 40% in potato starch production plant. The wet starch after dehydration is dried to further reduce water content, the steam pressure is controlled at 0.8mpa, and the water content of the finished starch after drying is less than 14%.
